She is renewing her V card.
A Brazilian influencer plans to become a “virgin again” by dropping more than $19,000 on vaginal rejuvenation surgery – but a doctor has a warning about the potential risks.
“The procedure has a special meaning to me,” Ravena Hanniely, 23, told Jam Press describing her decision to cosmetically turn back time in her sex life.
The bombshell plans to undergo a hymenoplasty, also known as a hymen repair, in which a surgeon sews the torn ends of a woman’s hymen back together with dissolvable stitches. That way, the patient will bleed the next time she has the hanky-panky, as if, in the immortal words of Madonna, she is “being touched for the first time.”
For Hanniely, who often shares sweet photos to her more than 266,000 Instagram followers, the surgery “symbolizes a new beginning in my personal and professional life,” she said.
“I want to become a virgin again”, declared the model. “This is for my self-esteem and for personal reasons that have always been important to me.”
Hanniely, who is single, says she has yet to decide who will re-open her post-op.
She added that the surgical time machine has psychological benefits in addition to the aesthetic, asserting: “It’s about how a woman feels and what she wants for herself.”
It is unclear when Hanniely has planned her renovation; however, she admits the procedure “requires special care” and says she is “fully committed to making sure everything goes well.”
“I will follow medical advice, such as avoiding physical exertion, abstaining from intimacy for the recommended period and choosing comfortable clothing,” said the aspiring virgin.
However, Dr. Hana Salusollia, CEO of the London-based Medisonal Clinic – a virtual doctor’s office that offers access to specialist doctors – claimed that hymenoplasty is not the sexual fountain of youth it has been billed to be.
She said that while the procedure is a “known cosmetic surgery”, it is more “symbolic” and does not actually restore someone’s virginity.
Salusollia added that this change of virginity carries several risks, including infection and scarring. The patient may also experience minor bleeding during and after the procedure, irregular healing and dissatisfaction with the results.
“These risks can be reduced if performed in accordance with ethical standards by the best surgeons,” said the doctor.
The concerns are more than just physical.
“It also raises big ethical questions and patients should be encouraged to be empowered to make their own ethical choice rather than feeling forced due to societal pressures,” Salusollia asserted. “Informed consent is critical as these decisions intersect with cultural and psychological dimensions.”
Hanniely was quick to kick opponents to the curb.
“Unfortunately, not everyone can understand or support such intimate choices,” she said, “We need to stop judging and start respecting these decisions.
